HOW TO PLAN HOMEWORK TIME
Step 1. Check your Planner for assignments you need to work on.
On your Daily Homework Plan (see below) do the following:
Step 2. Write down every assignment you plan to work on today.
Step 3. Estimate how long each assignment is going to take (to the nearest half-hour).
Step 4. Make a plan.
Write everything you plan to do in the time slot you plan to do it. Include homework and non-homework activities (such as meals, sports, work, family time, social time, breaks, etc). Make sure your plan fits with other obligations you may have!
Step 5. Follow the plan!
Do your best to follow the plan, but make adjustments as needed.
TIPS:
• If you don’t have your planner, find out what your assignments are by
(1) contacting another student, (2) going to the class web site, (3) emailing the teacher.

• Use a pencil. You may have to modify the plan as you go.
• Try to schedule your homework time at the same time each night, if possible
• Allow time for breaks and minor interruptions.

• Avoid major interruptions during your work time! Put away all distractions. Do not accept calls or texts during your study time!
• Share your plan with other family members so they are aware of your study time.
• If the plan did not work, try a different plan next time. Figure out what works best for you.
